How can I register for an examination?

Either via your family doctor or directly by phone or email.

How long do I have to wait for an appointment for an interview?

We can usually guarantee you an appointment in our consultation hours within two weeks.

Where do the operations take place?

Outpatient procedures usually take place at the gastroenterology group practice on Bubenbergplatz in Bern. Inpatient procedures take place at the Beau-Site Clinic in Berne.

Can I choose which Swiss1Surgery doctor I would like to see?

In principle, yes. Most procedures are performed by all Swiss1Surgery doctors. There are a few exceptions: Dr. Jörg Zehetner is our reflux specialist, these operations are performed by him. Dr. med. Anita Scheiwiller is our specialist for operations on the thyroid and parathyroid glands.

How quickly can an operation be planned?

We can almost always offer you a quick surgery date within 2-3 weeks.

Can I have an operation at your clinic if I am not resident in the canton of Bern?

If you have supplementary insurance for the whole of Switzerland, this is not a problem. Even for procedures that are not offered in your canton of residence (so-called highly specialized abdominal procedures), your health insurance will always cover the full costs. Otherwise you will have to pay the difference in costs between the cantons yourself. However, these are usually very small amounts of money.
